Milana, Rumyana & Doychin Wojcik - Love leads when fear fades.
When Jennifer and Chris Wojcik first laid eyes on Milana—a toddler from Ukraine with Down syndrome—their hearts opened to more than a diagnosis: they heard a calling. In 2010, Milana was welcomed into their North Carolina home, embarking on a journey of love, challenge, and transformation together reecesrainbow.org.
💛 Extending Their Heart: Rumyana & Doychin Join the Family
In 2014, the Wojciks expanded their family again, embracing two more precious children with Down syndrome from Bulgaria: Rumyana (“Riley”) and Doychin (“Danny”) reecesrainbow.org. Each child brought unique needs—Rumyana with a heart condition, Doychin adjusting to a new culture—and the family faced unexpected hurdles: RAD (Reactive Attachment Disorder), health complications, and the complexities of adoption. Jennifer described it as nothing like raising twins—but they welcomed it with unwavering love reecesrainbow.org.
“Our kids are worth fighting for because they are kids who need love and a family. Everyone is worthy and deserving of love. No one should have to fight for that.” reecesrainbow.org
🏡 Family is a Choice—and a Shared Responsibility
Even amid the challenge—and a divorce—Jennifer found strength in choosing love. She says, “I’m no different than anyone else. I just made different choices.”
Her vision: a village, where families share care, laughter, and support—creating true community. Though she still hopes for that village someday, the one she’s built now is enough .
✨ Why Their Story Matters
Adoption across borders: Three children—two from Bulgaria, one from Ukraine—with diverse needs, now thrive in one loving home.
Breaking stigma: By opening their hearts, the Wojciks challenge misconceptions about families with disabilities.
Power of everyday love: Their experience shows how normal life—siblings teasing, struggling teen moods, Frozen sing-alongs—is extraordinary when love leads.
